Abstract

This review focused on Sabahattin Ali's story "The Unrecoverable Masterpiece (/Kurtarılamayan Şaheser)". The story is about the desire of a poet to write the most beautiful poems and the troubles he experiences on this path. Love acts as a driving force in the desire to write the most beautiful poetry. It is worth focusing on the emotional and intellectual state of the poet in the story, which changes both in his love relationship and while writing his poems. That changing emotional state significantly affects the poet's understanding of art, the hero of the story, and his thoughts about what real poetry is. The poet's final point about what real poetry should be like will contribute to determining Sabahattin Ali's perspective on poetry. That research is a case study. In the survey, Sabahattin Ali's story "The Unrecoverable Masterpiece" is analysed within the concept of how good poetry should be. The study is qualitative research based on the interpretive paradigm, and hermeneutic interpretation has been used in the content analysis. Sabahattin Ali's perspective on poetry in his early works was to be determined by a fictional poet, the protagonist of the story.
